Charlamagne Tha God Calls Out ‘The View’ After Feeling Pressure To Endorse Presidential Candidate: “Why Do Y’all Need Us To Say This If We Don’t Feel Comfortable Saying It?”

Charlamagne Tha God was a guest on The View to promote his book Get Honest or Die Lying and starred in a tense moment with the morning co-hosts.

Sunny Hostin asked the radio personality why he has not openly endorsed Joe Biden in his presidential reelection as he did in 2020.

“Well, since this book is all about having real conversations, let’s get to it. Let’s get real,” Hostin told Charlamagne. “You have a massive platform, reaching millions of listeners. You and I have talked about this before. You endorsed Joe Biden back in 2020, but this time around, you said you’re not going to endorse anybody. Charlamagne, now is not the time, in my opinion, to sit this one out.”

Charlamagne said, “I didn’t say that,” clarifying and adding, “I’m definitely voting in November but what I like to focus on is issues, not individuals.”

Hostin pressed Charlamagne on why he would not endorse Biden.

“Because if I’m sitting here telling my listeners that you have somebody out there who’s a threat to democracy, you have somebody out there who said they want to suspend the constitution or overthrow the results of the election — you saw this person try to lead an attempted coup of this country — and I’m telling people that this guy is a threat to democracy,” Charlamagne said. “There’s only two candidates out there. So, if I’m saying that about this individual, the choice is clear, right?”

Charlamagne then schooled the co-hosts, saying, “I’ve seen you do this on The View before. I saw y’all do this to Killer Mike when he was on The View. And Killer Mike literally sat here and said, ‘hey, I supported Keisha Lance Bottoms, I supported Raphael Warnock, Jon Ossoff in Georgia.’ He said you should support the person who the people I support are supporting. That’s y’all’s opportunity to say, ‘clearly, he’s talking about Biden.’ Why do y’all need us to say this we don’t feel comfortable saying it?”

Whoopi Goldberg stepped in to clarify the situation and tell Charlamagne that sometimes “other folks need to hear” the endorsement.

“One of the things that we’ve been talking about is the fact that getting facts out through the media seems to be very difficult,” Goldberg added.

Charlamagne said, “I feel like I just spewed some facts,” with Goldberg noting, “We need you to do it on your show.”

The radio host added, “I think both candidates are trash, but I am going to vote in November and I’m going to vote in my best interest and who can preserve democracy. Would you rather I endorse an individual or endorse the fact that we need to go out here and protect democracy?”

Later on, Goldberg noted that she was not going to ask Charlamagne anymore about who he was voting for as he said he was going to exercise his right to vote.

“Not only am I saying I’m gonna vote, I’m telling you who the threat to democracy is,” Charlamagne said. “His name is Donald Trump if you want me to spell that one out.”
