In recent months, you may have noticed steady increases in the monthly price tags of some of your favourite streamers along with the introduction of adverts and added incentives to pay more a month to get rid of them.
While stocking your telly with all the apps needed to satisfy your pop-culture cravings can feel weighty on your wallet, it doesn’t need to be. Many streamers offer basic plans that’ll let you binge-watch on a budget.
While costs are liable to change over time, below you’ll find a handy guide on the cheapest plans for all the major streamers, including Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+.
What is the cheapest Netflix UK price plan?
The cheapest way to get your Netflix fix is by selecting their Standard With Adverts plan which will set you back £4.99 a month. Currently, the platform does not support annual payments but it’d work out at £59.88 a year.
This pricing tier was recently introduced after the streamer did away with its basic plan which cost users £7.99 a month but didn’t include any adverts.
According to the Netflix website, their Standard With Adverts plan gives you access to “all but a few movies and TV shows” plus “unlimited mobile games.” It’ll also let you stream in full HD.
Users who choose this option can watch and download on two devices at a time but unlike other Netflix packages, it doesn’t let you add any extra viewers to your account.
What is the cheapest Prime Video UK price plan?
If you want to catch up on hits like The Boys or The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power for as little as possible, you’ll be looking to spend £5.99 a month or £71.88 annually for a Prime Video subscription. If you’re a student, you can knock a quid off, bagging the basic service for £4.99 a month or £47.59 a year.
This package gives you access to Amazon's Prime Video offerings only — meaning users will miss out on the free one-day and same-day delivery options and grocery delivery and pick-up services offered via the full deal.
If you want this added, it’ll cost you £8.99 monthly or a one-off yearly payment of £95. Still, without these added extras, Prime Video’s basic package will still get you access to their wide library of content which includes shows like Clarkson’s Farm, Gen V and Reacher.
Of course, these come with adverts which the streamer controversially introduced a few months back for all users who don’t want to pay an additional £2.99 a month to remove them.
What is the cheapest Disney+ UK price plan?
The House of Mouse offers three different streaming options, each with their own pricing. However, if you want to enjoy the latest Star Wars and Marvel content for cheap, you’ll likely want to go for their Standard With Ads model which costs £4.99 a month or £79.90 a year.
It’ll mean you’ll have to sit through the occasional advert but Disney+’s cheapest offering does give you access to its whole library while also letting you stream in 1080p full HD on two different devices.
If you really can’t stand adverts, then the next package up will remove those for you but it’ll cost you £7.99 a month with the Premium Package at £10.99 monthly or £109.90 annually.
These last two options also give you full HD video, multiple concurrent streaming options and downloads on up to 10 different devices.
What is the cheapest Apple TV+ UK price plan?
Those looking to catch up on Ted Lasso and Severance can do so by subscribing to Apple TV+ for £8.99 per-month.
This is the streamer’s only membership tier and while it has doubled since the service first launched (it was originally just £4.99), it still gives you access to all of the movies and shows housed on the app.
The option to pay annually isn’t available. However, at £8.99 a month, you’re looking at an annual spend of £107.88.
Apple TV+ features a variety of free trial options too, with newcomers given a seven-day free period to see if the streamer is for them and all those who buy a new Apple product given three months of Apple TV+ goodness to enjoy as an added freebie.
What is the cheapest Paramount+ UK price plan?
Billing itself as having a “mountain of entertainment,” Paramount+ is one of the newer stars of the streamer scene and has attracted viewers thanks to its abundance of South Park, Beavis and Butt-Head, Knuckles and Mission: Impossible content.
If you’re looking to sign up and get stuck in, the cheapest option would be the only one currently advertised which sets you back £6.99 a month or £69.90 a year.
Like many of their competitors, Paramount+ lets you enjoy a seven-day free viewing period with users able to cancel their monthly subscription at any time. If you opt for their annual payment, you’ll also save 16% compared to paying for the same service monthly.
What is the cheapest NOW UK price plan?
With countless channels under its belt, NOW has a variety of packages to suit any viewing taste, with many of them boasting the same — or similar — price tags.
If you’re looking to stay up to date with House of the Dragon, their Entertainment package will cost you £6.99 a month if you sign up for a six-month membership. While you’re able to cancel at any time, after this date, the price tag jumps up to £9.99 per month. The same deal applies to their Cinema package, with both offering a seven-day free trial period and full HD streaming on three devices at once.
Alternatively, you can bundle both of their Entertainment and Cinema options together for £13.99 a month for the first six months. After this time, the price reverts to £19.98 unless you cancel your subscription.
If movies and TV aren’t your thing, their Sports package costs £26 when you join for six months, with the cost increasing to £34.99 after this time. Just like NOW’s Entertainment and Cinema options, you can cancel at any time and enjoy sporting action in full HD on three different devices. You’ll also get access to the streamer's 12 different sports channels.
