Chelsea: Ruben Loftus-Cheek wanted by AC Milan as Sandro Tonali heads to Newcastle

AC Milan have reignited their interest in Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek after agreeing to sell Sandro Tonali to Newcastle for £65million.

Loftus-Cheek is free to leave Chelsea this summer and Milan have made the 27-year-old a priority target.

Chelsea value Loftus-Cheek at £25m but Milan hope they will lower that asking price to around £15m because he only has one year left on his contract.

Milan had walked away from talks over Loftus-Cheek when club legend and sporting director Paolo Maldini was sacked earlier this month.

But the Serie A giants have renewed their interest and want Loftus-Cheek to replace Tonali at the heart of their midfield.

Chelsea are accelerating their clear-out of unwanted players, as they prepare for a busy week of transfer activity before Mauricio Pochettino gets to work at the start of next week.

Kalidou Koulibaly completed his £17m move to Al-Hilal on Sunday, while Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy are also close to joining the Saudi Pro League.

Inter Milan are interested in signing Romelu Lukaku, Trevoh Chalobah and Cesar Azpilicueta. They want Lukaku and Chalobah on cut-price loan deals, while they hope to secure Azpilicueta for free.

Chelsea are reluctant to let Lukaku leave on a cheap deal to Inter for another season but the striker has rejected attempts to sell him to clubs in Saudi Arabia.
