Cher says 'Believe' turning 25 'pisses the f--- out of me'

"It's not that amazing, okay?" she added.

Cher cannot believe one of her most popular singles turns 25 this year.

During an appearance on Today on Tuesday, the pop icon, 77, reflected on the anniversary of "Believe," telling anchor Harry Smith that it "pisses the f--- out of me."

"How amazing is it that 'Believe' is 25?" Smith asked.

"It's not that amazing, okay?" Cher quipped. "It pisses the f--- out of me. It's just like, 'What is this?'"

Smith said, "So you and age, you're not friends?"

"No!" exclaimed Cher. "My mother didn't mind, but I do. I hate it."

At 77, however, Cher is welcoming many firsts, including her first Christmas album, out now, and her forthcoming memoir. Her first album of original material in a decade, Christmas, also features an all-star list of collaborators, including Darlene Love, Stevie Wonder, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Bublé, and Tyga.

"I have never had anybody on any album," Cher told Smith, adding that she was nervous to call Wonder about the collaboration. "He said, 'Consider it done,'" she revealed. "And then I ran around my room, I swear to God, I jumped up and down on my bed screaming, 'Stevie Wonder's gonna be on my album.'"

As for her memoir, the Grammy winner first announced the project in 2017, but recently told host Jimmy Fallon on his late-night show that it's been difficult to revisit parts of her life. “I just totally chickened out,” she said. “I didn’t put in some things that needed to be in. And they’re not comfortable, but they need to be in, so I have to go back and man up.”

She added: “I’ve lived too long and done too much and so it’s like it should be the encyclopedia."
