Chloe Bailey Confirms Her Sophomore Album Will Include a New Chloe x Halle Song: ‘Just Felt Like Old Times’

The forthcoming collaboration titled “Want Me” will mark the sisters’ first song together in three years

The Bailey sisters are getting the band back together.

Months after Halle and Chloe Bailey exclusively told PEOPLE they're planning to release new music in 2024, the latter confirms at least one collaboration will arrive as soon as this summer.

Speaking to NYLON for her new cover story, Chloe, 25, confirmed that a Chloe x Halle track titled “Want Me” will appear on her forthcoming sophomore album, Trouble in Paradise — which will mark the sister duo’s first collab in three years.

According to the outlet, the making of the song started off as “a heart-to-heart between girlfriends,” and it felt fitting to have Halle, 24, feature.

“It’s weird, because it’s almost like I wrote the song for two without knowing it,” the “Have Mercy” singer shared. “I was talking to one of my engineers, and she was telling me about this guy and how into her he is, and I was sharing a similar story. I was like, ‘But am I that much into him? Why is it that the ones we want don't want us like this?’ I immediately wrote it down in my notes, and the song wrote itself in, like, five minutes.”

Looking to maintain the song’s “conversational” tone, Chloe said she knew her sister would be the perfect collaborator to bring it to life.

“I got in my sister’s head and was like, OK, what is going on in her life right now?” the “FYS” singer continued. “We both have our own lives. She’s a mom now, we’re both traveling, we're constantly passing each other in the sky. And I was like, ‘Sis, we're going to be in New York at the same time, I would love for you to be on the record.’”

It took no time at all for the siblings to get in the studio again: Halle in the booth and Chloe at the soundboard, holding her sister’s infant son, Halo. “It just felt like old times,” she added.

The last time fans heard new original Chloe x Halle material, the pair had just released their second studio album, the Grammy-nominated Ungodly Hour, which produced their biggest hit single (also Grammy-nominated) to date, “Do It.”

That effort followed their debut album, 2018’s The Kids Are Alright, mixtape The Two of Us and EPs like Uncovered and Sugar Symphony, which housed their 2016 breakout single “Drop.”

Since embarking on separate career journeys, Chloe has starred in films like Praise This and The Exorcism and Prime Video’s Swarm series, plus released her debut album, 2023’s In Pieces. The “Boy Bye”performer will follow it up with her soon-to-be-released LP, Trouble In Paradise — announced during her 2024 week two Coachella performance — which, according to NYLON, includes features from Anderson .Paak and Jeremih.

Halle, meanwhile, has since starred as a lead in Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid film, The Color Purple musical and dropped her first solo single, 2023's “Angel” (which earned her a Grammy nomination). She also welcomed her first child, Halo, with her boyfriend, DDG, in December.

Speaking to PEOPLE in February about the other new projects they have coming up, Chloe said she and her sister are elated to be working on endeavors that have a lot of meaning behind them.

"We're definitely working on really exciting things together, and it's been very nostalgic,” she teased. "It's bringing us back to our roots, and we can't wait until we can present that to the world. I think that'll definitely be huge.”

"It's more blessings,” Halle added, “and we're just really grateful and excited to be continuing.”
