Chris Tarrant is challenging 'ridiculous' building plans near his home
"It's not really relevant to the kind of area we live in."
Chris Tarrant is taking a stand against what he claims are disruptive building plans close to his home in central London.
The veteran TV presenter is unhappy with proposals for construction work at a property near his house in a Marleybone mews.
Earlier this year, Westminster Council received an excavation request for a basement and underground cinema alongside a brand-new internal layout and mansard roof-level extension, the Sunday Express reports.

Tarrant, best known as the former presenter of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?, said: "You're thinking, it's a mews area, it's very quiet and peaceful and that's why we are there.
"You can't have great big things on the top so it looks down on everybody else. It's only a little square so can you imagine the chaos of builders coming in, dust everywhere, pollution."
The 76-year-old added: "I'd like to be sure that Westminster Council will say no to it, it's not really relevant to the kind of area we live in or why we want to live there.
"It's nothing like any other house in our area and I can't believe they even put the plans in to be honest. It's ridiculous.
"It would be about a year of disruption to all the local businesses. Things like dustmen couldn't get through, fire engines and ambulances couldn't get through, you can't just suddenly do that.
"We've made a big appeal and if necessary, we will appeal again."

Tarrant recently lauded actor Michael Sheen's portrayal of him in real-life ITV drama Quiz.
"What he got was the body language – just these weird things that I do. Like when I'm getting into the chair I do a sort of Fosbury Flop.
"And there is a bit when I am standing with my arm around a contestant when we are about to go on and I did something with my left arm and leg and it is like a demented duck."
