City Hall to host monthly ‘Kuala Lumpur Green Tea’ community outreach programme
A new low-carbon emission community programme called ‘Kuala Lumpur Green Tea’ will be held in the vicinity of the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Bandar Tun Razak.
Organised by Kuala Lumpur City Hall, the year-long programme aims, among others, to foster a better understanding among the community of the roles and services offered by the city council.
City Hall’s Corporate Planning Department said the monthly low carbon emission-themed programme will be on Saturdays, the dates of which will be announced later.
The stadium, opposite Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, is surrounded by several housing estates, the Bandar Tun Razak Sports Complex, and the Permaisuri Lake Gardens.
Last month, Kuala Lumpur City FC chief executive officer Stanley Bernard told Twentytwo13 that the football club had written to City Hall asking the council to adopt the stadium as a green area. The council agreed.
Bernard had then said that it’s an initiative to encourage the use of electric vehicles, among others, as well as other eco-friendly products in and around the stadium. He said the initiatives were just a ‘teaser’ of the football team’s bigger plans. They include installing EV chargers around the stadium and having solar panels to power the floodlights at the venue.
In its statement today, City Hall said it also plans to have another signature outreach programme called ‘Meet DBKL Programme’ at 11 parliamentary constituencies in Kuala Lumpur throughout 2024.
Both programmes will be launched simultaneously this month at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in Bandar Tun Razak by the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
Both programmes will also act as platforms offering sports, cultural, and children’s activities to the people.
The public will also be able to access the service centres of parliamentarians and residents’ associations during these programmes.
In addition, there will also be ‘Jualan Rahmah’ by the Domestic Trade and Costs of Living ministry and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority.
The initiative by City Hall is supported by several agencies, including the Department of Statistics Malaysia, Radio Televisyen Malaysia, and the Kuala Lumpur Football Association.
