St Pancras Spa

What could be more convenient than rolling in off the Eurostar and straight into the spa? Located within the Marriott St Pancras Renaissance, the St Pancras Spa offers a range of ayurvedic treatments, massages, facials, body scrubs and wraps. The "Journey of the Silk Route" is a three-hour spa treatment including a facial, a massage and a detoxifying body wrap. Priced at £345 (about €430) from Friday to Sunday, and £310 (around €390) from Monday to Thursday, it includes access to rest of the facilities.

Aveda Institute

The all-natural Aveda Institute at High Holburn is another big draw with the city's beauty fans. Among the most popular treatments are the "Stress-Fix" options, which all incorporate the Stress-Fix aroma (with lavender, lavandin and clary sage) throughout each treatment. The Stress-Fix Pedicure includes a leg and foot exfoliation with aromatic hot towels. This is followed by removal of any hard skin and a relaxing leg and foot massage. The Berkeley Spa

The roof-top pool at this top London health club and hotel is just one of the draws at The Berkeley, but there's also a pretty comprehensive menu of treatments. Top of the list, the Bamford Body Signature Treatment uses the Bamford Body products created especially for the spa. Priced at £150 (€187) for 85 minutes ("Why not the full hour and a half?" you might be howling at your screen), the treatment opens with a cleasing footbath. This is followed up by a series of shiatsu, meridian and Swedish massages, reflexology, facial massage and yogic breathing exercises. It certainly sounds very relaxing.

On Sunday evening, the North Caucasus region of Dagestan was rocked by a series of brutal terrorist attacks. Gunmen opened fire in a synagogue in Derbent, graphically slit the throat of Russian Orthodox priest Father Nikolay, and attacked Jewish and Christian houses of worship in Dagestan’s largest city Makhachkala. These brutal crimes claimed the lives of at least 15 people, including police officers.
