Climate protesters rally in Brussels ahead of COP27
STORY: Organisers of the annual march pointed to a summer of heatwaves and droughts in Belgium, as in much of Europe, as a sign that the climate crisis is urgent.
One unnamed protester said she hopes people can see the difference individuals can make together. "If you see a piece of rubbish on the ground to pick it up, even once a day, and if everyone picked up one piece of rubbish a day it could make a lot of difference," she explained.
Belgian TV network RTL-TVI reported that 25,000 people took part in the protest, marching past the headquarters of EU institutions chanting, "Another world is possible".
