‘IF’ Climbs to Top Spot at U.K., Ireland Box Office as ‘Furiosa’ Slips to Fourth

Family fare was evidently the preferred choice during the U.K. and Ireland school half-term holidays as Paramount’s “IF” bounced up the charts to the top spot.

In its third weekend, “IF” collected £1.5 million ($2 million) for a total of £9.5 million ($12.2 million). In its second weekend, in second place, Sony’s “The Garfield Movie” clawed another £1.3 million and now has a total of £6.2 million.

In third place, in its fourth weekend, Disney’s “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” chest thumped to a further £1 million for a total of £13.2 million.

Warner Bros.’ “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” which was neck-and-neck with “Garfield” in its opening weekend, earned £963,976 in its second weekend in fourth place and now has a total of £4.5 million.

Rounding off the top five was Universal’s “The Fall Guy” that took in £524,320 in its fifth weekend for a total of £11.1 million.

There were three new entries in the Top 10. Warner Bros.’ 20th anniversary re-release of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” bowed in sixth place with £394,066. Sony’s “Haikyu!!: The Dumpster Battle” debuted in seventh place with £270,095 and Studiocanal’s “Sting” in eighth with £231,113.

The big upcoming release is Sony’s latest instalment of the “Bad Boys” franchise, “Bad Boys: Ride Or Die,” starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence that’s opening midweek on June 5.

There are several releases on the Friday, June 7. Signature is bowing Western “The Dead Don’t Hurt,” directed by Viggo Mortensen and starring him alongside Vicky Krieps, Solly McLeod, Colin Morgan, Danny Huston and Garret Dillahunt. Warner Bros. is debuting fantasy-horror “The Watched,” the feature directorial debut of Ishana Night Shyamalan.

Picturehouse Entertainment is bowing 2023 Cannes title “Rosalie,” while Icon Film Distribution is opening fellow Cannes 2023 stablemate “Riddle of Fire.” Modern Films is debuting “Four Little Adults,” which played Rotterdam and won Goteborg in 2023 and Dogwoof is releasing “Food Inc 2,” the anticipated second part of the groundbreaking 2008 documentary.

ICA Cinemas is releasing “You Burn Me,” which debuted earlier this year at the Berlinale. Altitude is opening “Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey 2.”

Park Circus has two rereleases celebrating the 25th anniversary of “The Matrix” and the 10th anniversary of “Pride” respectively.
