SINGAPORE — Should you fall sick during the Chinese New Year holiday period from 9 to 12 February, there will be 993 general practitioner clinics open for the public to visit.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a media release on Thursday (8 February) that 17 clinics will remain open for 24 hours for all four days, while 967 more clinics will remain open on Friday, the eve of Chinese New Year.

This is followed by 101 clinics opening on Saturday, 149 clinics on Sunday and 250 clinics on Monday.

Only visit A&E for serious emergencies, advised MOH

During the festive period, those feeling unwell including children, are encouraged by the ministry to visit their GP clinic for minor conditions. They are also advised to make an appointment or call the clinics before heading down.

MOH added that the public should visit the Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments in hospitals only for serious or life-threatening emergencies such as chest pain, breathlessness and uncontrollable bleeding.

Individuals who are not experiencing life-threatening emergencies are advised to refrain from calling 995, to ensure that medical services can provide "swift conveyance" for those with emergency conditions.

Lastly, the public are reminded to eat in moderation and continue regular exercise over the holiday period to stay healthy.

The list of clinics and their operating hours can be accessed on MOH's website, or the websites of the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) and the Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS). The list is categorised according to clinics that are open for 24 hours, those open on specific dates, and according to regions.
