Clint Eastwood is celebrating another year around the sun.

The Oscar winner turns 94 on Friday, May 31, and remains a major presence in Hollywood.

The actor-director made a rare public appearance on March 24 at a Reasons for Hope event presented by the Wildlife Conservation Network in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, where Dr. Jane Goodall spoke.

Eastwood, who once served as Carmel-by-the-Sea's mayor, was seen sitting with the famous anthropologist in a photo from the event published in April.

Eastwood's family is still enjoying new milestones beyond his birthday too. His youngest daughter Morgan, 27, announced on Instagram May 23 that she is expecting her first baby with fiancé Tanner Koopmans.

In addition to Morgan, the Dirty Harry star has seven other children; Laurie Murray, 69, Kimber Lynn Eastwood, 59, Kyle Eastwood, 56, Alison Eastwood, 52, Scott Eastwood, 38, Kathryn Eastwood, 36 and Francesca Eastwood, 30.

Eastwood has been married twice, first to Maggie Johnson, from 1953 to 1984; then to Dina Ruiz in 1996. She filed for divorce from Eastwood in 2014; he has been dating Christina Sandera since 2015, when she joined him at that year's Oscars ceremony.

The star has been in the news in recent months for multiple instances of fake news spreading about him online. In April, Eastwood's rep confirmed to PEOPLE that he does not have any official social media accounts, in response to an account on X that used his name and likeness with a verified checkmark on its profile.

The next month, PEOPLE confirmed Eastwood had not returned his Oscar statuettes to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences after a meme circulated social media claiming he was parting ways with the trophies as a political protest.

"You think you're going to get some tough guy and he is completely gentle and calm and fun and cracking jokes, and a lot of the crew members — [for example], the craft services woman has been with him for 22 years," Messina, 49, told PEOPLE of working with Eastwood back in December.

"He was awesome. I really loved him," Messina added. "Ninety-three years old and completely with it, great notes, up on his feet behind the camera. He's a badass."
