Cognac house Martell launches the Noblige
Martell, the three centuries-old and counting cognac house has just launched the Martell Noblige, whose name refers to the old French saying, “noblesse oblige” (“nobility carries obligation”).
The cognac blend is housed in a beautifully curvy bottle, and carries aroma notes of caramel and cream.
The Noblige is categorised under the unofficial age designation of “Napoleon” Cognac, though it technically falls within the official classification of a V.S.O.P which requires eaux-de-vie to be aged for a minimum of four years. However, a V.S.O.P Cognac may be referred to as a Napoleon if it has been aged for more than six years.
Tasting tones
Eye: Dark gold with copper hues.
Nose: Abundant fruit, with lemon, pear and prune.
Palate: Exotic flavours of vanilla pod, caramelized grapes, sweet myrrh, cedar, and fine-grained oak. Long, smooth, satisfying finish.
