SINGAPORE - Seven years since they last performed in Singapore to a crowd of over 100,000 back in 2017, British rock band Coldplay will return next January for an unprecedented six shows at the National Stadium.
In a Facebook post on 12 June, concert promoter Live Nation Singapore announced that the band will perform on 23, 24, 26 and 27 January at the 55,000-seater National Stadium next year.
This was followed by an announcement on Monday (19 June) of an additional fifth show, and another announcement on Tuesday (20 June) for a sixth and final show, which will make them the first music act to play for six nights at the venue.
This tour is Coldplay's eighth concert tour, in support of their ninth studio album, "Music of the Spheres". The upcoming Singapore shows are part of the second leg of the band’s Asian tour, which will also see the quartet perform in the Philippines and Thailand.
Tickets are priced from $68 and pre-sales begun on 19 June. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased by those who had subscribed to Coldplay's newsletter by 16 June. Live Nation members are also eligible for pre-sale tickets via Live Nation's website. Registration for Live Nation membership is free.
General ticket sales will commence on Tuesday (20 June) from 2pm, via Ticketmaster's website or hotline (+65-31588588) as well as at all SingPost outlets. Further ticketing information and the seating map will be revealed at a later date.
A limited number of Infinity Tickets, which will be priced cheaper at around $27 each, will be released at a later date. The Infinity Tickets can only be bought in pairs, and each buyer is limited to a maximum purchase of two tickets.
Coldplay consist of singer Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion. The Grammy-winning band have sold over 100 million albums and are best known for their worldwide hits "Yellow", "The Scientist" and "Viva La Vida".
The Music of the Spheres World Tour has broken various attendance and gross records in Europe and Latin America, with sales of over two million tickets in both continents.
In support of sustainability, the tour will produce 50 per cent less carbon dioxide emissions than their previous stadium tour in 2016 and 2017. The band has also pledged to plant a tree for every ticket sold through a reforestation agreement.
