Colman Domingo's boots were made for walking — on the red carpet!

At the 96th annual Academy Awards on Sunday, Domingo — who is nominated for Best Actor for his performance in Rustin — once again raised the bar for men’s red carpet fashion in a chic Louis Vuitton look with a Western twist.

The Euphoria star, 54, hit the Oscars red carpet in a black, double-breasted suit complete with intricate buttons and trousers that flared over a pair of chic, steel-toe cowboy boots.

"I wanted to just shine like a diamond," the actor told E! of the inspiration behind his look.

And shine he did. Continuing his maximalist streak, Domingo added even more bling, including a dazzling brooch bow tie, David Yurman jewelry and a watch from Omega.

Perhaps the most meaningful detail of Domingo's Oscars 'fit was a pinky ring he has been wearing all award season.

The ring belonged to Bayard Rustin, the civil rights activist he portrays in Rustin. It was gifted to him by Walter Naegle, Rustin's partner, Domingo revealed to ET at the Golden Globes.

According the actor, Naegle wanted him to have some of Rustin's jewelry. "I chose this in particular, which is an agate," he told ET. "It's so beautiful. It makes a lot of sense. I feel like I'll keep this for a long time."

Domingo’s Oscar nomination for Rustin, in which he portrays the titular activist, is a career first.

As award season kicked off earlier this year, the actor — who also gave a critically acclaimed performance in The Color Purple last year — told PEOPLE, “I recognize that I’m having a moment.”

Should he take home a statuette, Domingo said it will go right next to the Emmy he earned for his Euphoria performance.

“I like it in an enclosed space. I can't walk into my house and feel like, oh, I'm Emmy Award-winner Colman Domingo,” he told PEOPLE, adding, “I look up from my desk and I'm like, 'Oh, that's beautiful.'”

From the Golden Globes to the SAG Awards, the actor’s varied and elaborate ensembles have earned him lots of praise. So much so, in fact, that he dedicated an entire post to his stylists after Vogue published an article about his stand-out style.

Alongside a screenshot of the story, Domingo wrote, “I dedicate this post to [Wayman and Micah]. These guys have helped me tell a story every single damned time.”

Of the stylist duo, who also work with stars like Tessa Thompson and Keke Palmer, the star added, “They don’t take their foot off the pedal. It’s all in the details and they have become brothers to me.”

“All hail Wayman+Micah. And their incredible assistants and point folks in Los Angeles, New York and London. They have been keeping your boy together,” he finished, “And now we are en vogue.”

The 96th Oscars will air live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 10, at 7 p.m. ET.
