Coronation Street to air secret struggle for Bethany in new scenes

Coronation Street offers new clues over Bethany Platt's secret next week as she seems to be struggling in her career.
As Bethany tries to make out that her journalism work is still going well, there are tell-tale signs that everything isn't as it seems.
Bethany returned to Weatherfield at the start of the year, telling her loved ones that she could enjoy a break away from London and submit her articles online.
However, Bethany was later seen making a secretive phone call, telling the person on the other end: "I know that I messed up but you have to give me a second chance." Her unknown contact immediately hung up.

Next week, Bethany writes a new article in the café, but when her love interest Daniel Osbourne heads over and asks what it's about, she doesn't give him a straight answer.
Bethany then calls her publisher, who makes it very clear that they're not interested in her article.
Later in the week, Daniel tells Bethany that it's her turn to treat him to tea. Bethany makes her excuses, claiming that she's working to a strict deadline and can't make it.
When Bethany discreetly checks her bank balance afterwards, she's clearly concerned by her overdraft, but once again chooses not to confide in anyone.

As Bethany makes a new plan, she meets up with Weatherfield Gazette journalist Suki hoping to secure some work.
Suki has nothing available, but she advises Bethany that Chit Chat magazine is looking for new contributors. Will Bethany join the gossip publication? And what really happened to her in London?
Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany, previously teased: "There is something that has happened in London that has kind of forced her to come back. Bethany is not revealing that straight away. She's being a bit secretive about why she has come back. I don't know if I can say anything else about that."
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Monday, January 29 and Wednesday, January 31.
