Coronation Street announces more schedule changes for next week

Coronation Street has announced further schedule changes for next week, with one episode being moved.

With ITV covering both the Rugby World Cup and the UEFA Women's Nations League, the broadcaster has altered its schedule in order to fit everything in, with one episode of Corrie being moved.

The soap will air an episode on Tuesday, September 19 at 8pm, and the scheduled instalment on Friday, September 22 has been removed, meaning Corrie will air over three consecutive days from Monday to Wednesday.

The news follows an already-announced change for the following week, with both Corrie and Emmerdale being shifted to allow coverage for the rugby and football.

Elsewhere in the world of Corrie, a special event titled The Coronation Street Experience was recently announced to honour the culmination of Stephen Reid's storyline, with fans getting the chance to watch his final episode with Todd Boyce, the actor who plays him.

"I can't wait to watch our fans watch me, with me, as my storyline heads towards one of its biggest moments yet," said Boyce of the event. "That said, I'm slightly nervous at their reaction – they all know what Stephen's been up to, I'm just hoping Sharon is as good a bodyguard as I know she will be a host."

The event will be hosted by the "Soap Queen" Sharon Marshall, with the evening also including a group Q&A with Boyce following the airing of the episode, which is scheduled for the ominous date of Friday October 13.

"We know the viewers want the chance to connect more closely with our programmes and at Corrie our new visitor centre gives us the opportunity to do just that," said James Penfold, ITV's controller of global brand licensing (UK).

“It's exciting for us to give fans the chance to experience something unique. This event is the start of a series of special evenings which we hope will not only give fans memories for a lifetime, [but] also give our cast and crew the chance to meet the people who make the show what it is," he added.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
