Coronation Street first look as new character Isabella arrives

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Brian Packham will get to meet his Italian cousin in new scenes of Coronation Street.

The ITV soap continues airing a storyline exploring Brian's Italian heritage. In earlier episodes, the character played by Peter Gunn took a DNA test, discovering he is 8% Italian.

And while this percentage may seem low to act on it, as Brian's friends didn't fail to point out, it changed The Kabin owner's outlook on life and family, prompting him to find his relatives in Southern Europe.

New scenes of Corrie will introduce Isabella, Brian's Italian cousin, as she comes to Weatherfield to spend time with him.

Played by Flaminia Cinque, Isabella messed with Brian's plans, who initially intended to go to Italy to get to know her. When Isabella told him her Naples flat was being renovated and decided to come to the UK instead, Brian felt disappointed but still stoked at the prospect of finding a family connection.

Speaking of connections, Packham recently seemed delighted at the possibility of a romance between Brian and Mary, portrayed by Patti Clare.

"I'd love it! They are both quite surreal and off-the-wall and work together very well. They could be a very strong pairing, and I love working with Patti," he told Inside Soap.

"Characters like Brian and Mary provide light relief alongside the hard-hitting storylines; not to say that's frivolous or meaningless, but it gives the balance of light and shade that Corrie does so well."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
