Coronation Street hints at Harvey prison release next week

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street hints that killer Harvey Gaskell could make a shock return to Weatherfield next week.

Harvey is currently serving a prison sentence for the death of Natasha Blakeman, but he's about to make a bold plan to have his conviction overturned.

Viewers have recently seen Adam Barlow strike a secret deal with Harvey by pointing out that they have a common enemy – Harvey's brother Damon Hay.

Adam visited Harvey and promised to organise his appeal, as long as the villain repaid the favour by helping him to get rid of Damon.

Next week, Adam makes a return visit to the prison and talks Harvey through the precise details of how an appeal would work.

Adam explains that the only way to be successful would be if they could pin Natasha's murder on somebody else.

Later that day, Harvey calls Adam with the shocking news that a man called John Perry is willing to falsely confess to Natasha's murder.

Adam follows Harvey's instructions and tracks down John at Weatherfield General.

Harvey's evil intentions become clear as Adam discovers that John is a cancer patient, who's willing to take the blame as he doesn't have long left. Will Adam have second thoughts over getting involved in this scam?

Samuel Robertson, who plays Adam, recently explained: "I think the more he gets to know [Harvey], the more he's becoming aware and he's getting a little trepidatious about being in so deep, but he's started the ball rolling now so he's either all in or he's in trouble.

"Maybe he didn't realise at the beginning, but he realises now how dangerous Harvey is for sure.

"He realises very quickly that Harvey's a lot smarter than he gave him credit for. Although he's a villain and he's from a rough background, he's not stupid.

"Adam realises quite quickly that he's been played a little bit by Harvey but he's in too deep now, he's going to have to go with what Harvey says and roll with the punches. Adam's definitely not dictating things now, that's for sure."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Wednesday, February 7.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
