Coronation Street reveals future stories for nine key characters

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has revealed the upcoming storylines for nine key characters.

It’s been confirmed that the women of Weatherfield – including Leanne, Toyah, Bethany, Sarah, Carla, Dee-dee, Maria, Abi and Bernie – will take centre stage on the ITV soap in June as "secrets unfold, lies are unearthed and love is put to the test".

Although sisters Leanne and Toyah have had the strongest of bonds ever since they first walked on the cobbles together back in 1997, this will be put to "the ultimate test" in scenes airing this month.

As Leanne continues to fall under the spell of cult The Institute and their leader Rowan Cunliffe, Toyah will grow even closer to Leanne's fiancé Nick as he supports her through her own trauma of the stillborn baby she lost years ago.

Elsewhere, we'll see how far Sarah is willing to go to protect her daughter Bethany as her evil abuser Nathan makes his "presence felt".

Meanwhile, after coming together to successfully clear Roy Cropper's name in the Lauren Bolton case, Carla and Dee-dee will start looking to the future.

While Carla attempts to repair her relationship with Roy, who is struggling to accept that she lied to the police even though it was done to protect him, Dee-dee is excited about having the time to finally focus on her relationship with Joel.

Maria desperately continues her efforts to be there for son Liam following his bullying ordeal, while remaining suspicious about husband Gary and the secrets he's keeping as he grows closer to ex Sarah.
