Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd calls for baby storyline

Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has called for a baby storyline for David Platt and his wife Shona.

Speaking to Inside Soap about his hopes for David's future, Jack said he would like for Shona and David have a baby of their own.

Discussing his reasons for wanting the couple to have a baby boy, Jack said it would echo David's own siblings.

"A baby for Shona and David would be nice because they don't have one of their own. A boy, I think. Then it would be Max, Lily, and the baby - just like Nick, Sarah and David."

While Jack is keen for David to have a baby with Shona, it might not be the best time for the Platts who are finally due to discover Stephen Reid's evil side.

Fans of the soap will know that Stephen has so far killed Leo Thompkins, Teddy Thompkins and Rufus Donahue while successfully covering up the truth.

Talking exclusively to Digital Spy about the ongoing storyline, which will finally see David become involved in the drama, Jack said that his on-screen uncle is set to meet his downfall later this year.

"Things are getting on top of him and people are starting to find out," Jack said. "And I think I'm heavily involved in it, although I haven't read it yet! People have said I am. People have said I'm in it, so that's always nice.

"I'm interested to know how it ends. It'll be sad if Uncle Stephen does have to leave permanently, because it's always a shame when you lose a Platt – someone close to your family.

"Hopefully he just gets arrested or something, but I don't know, because he has done a lot of bad stuff and he's killed people!"

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
