Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Amy Barlow will be arrested at a protest in upcoming scenes.

In scenes airing on BBC One next week, Amy is determined to make a difference by raising awareness around sexual assault, after her flatmate Aaron Sandford sexually assaulted her earlier this year.

As Amy makes placards for the upcoming anti-spiking march, a worried Steve confides in Summer and says he wishes Amy would put the same focus into her degree.

Amy, Summer, Evelyn and Cassie begin their protest, but it's not long before Weatherfield's new local thug Mason and his cronies start making snide remarks at them.

Furious, Amy attempts to hit Mason with her placard, but a police officer quickly orders her to put it down. To Summer's horror, Amy doesn't back down and begins arguing with the officer.

When Amy proceeds to pick up a can of paint and spray it all over the officer's car, she is handcuffed and arrested for criminal damage.

Elsewhere for Amy, it's also been revealed that she will intervene when she spots a man trying to spike another woman's drink at a nightclub.

When the woman leaves, Amy approaches the man and pretends to flirt with him — though it remains to be seen what she has planned.

The ITV soap's producer Iain McLeod previously spoke to Digital Spy about how Amy remains "profoundly affected" by her past trauma.

"Amy will find herself driven to some fairly extreme lengths, in what she sees as an attempt to right some wrongs. She feels that she's acting in an entirely justified way," he said.

"But it will fall to one of her friends to pull it back from the brink before she criminalises herself essentially, in a pursuit of what she believes to be a just outcome."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
