Coronation Street's Beth betrays Kirk by meeting her ex-boyfriend

Coronation Street's Beth Sutherland risks her future with her partner Kirk next week as she secretly meets up with her ex-boyfriend.

Earlier this week, Beth was seen reminiscing over an old flame called Marco, who's about to make an appearance on the cobbles.

Beth's relationship with Kirk is currently under strain following the revelation that she slapped Fiz and Tyrone's 12-year-old daughter Hope and then lied about it.

In Wednesday's episode (March 8), Beth tries her best to make amends with Kirk by showing him some mementoes from their relationship.

Beth believes the trip down memory lane will win over Kirk, but she ends up with some explaining to do when Kirk wants to know why she has also kept a letter from Marco.

A mortified Beth throws the letter away, but it's still not enough to pacify Kirk as they continue to row.

When it gets to the point where Kirk might move out, the couple realise that a split isn't what they want and they agree to put their differences behind them.

Just when it seems like the drama is over, next week's episodes see Beth dress to impress and head off to meet Marco at the Bistro.

Beth brings Glenda Shuttleworth along with her for some moral support, but Glenda soon realises that she's surplus to requirements and makes herself scarce.

Will Beth regret going behind Kirk's back like this, or will she decide that she was better off with Marco?

Guest star Paul Albertson will be playing Marco in the upcoming scenes.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.

China anchors 'monster ship' in South China Sea, Philippine coast guard says
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said on Saturday that China's largest coastguard vessel has anchored in Manila's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the South China Sea, and is meant to intimidate its smaller Asian neighbour.
