Coronation Street's Billy faces shock discovery in Paul storyline

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Billy Mayhew looks likely to discover Paul Foreman's secrets next week, as he follows his partner to court.

The archdeacon has spent the past few weeks in the dark over Paul's criminal behaviour and his recent diagnosis.

The ITV soap has begun exploring an emotional exit storyline for Paul, who has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Paul has been determined to provide financial support for his family while he still can, so he recently stole a car from Rufus Donahue's home but ultimately got caught by the police.

In next week's episodes, Billy starts to notice Paul behaving strangely. His suspicions are aroused when Paul has an unexpected argument with his twin sister Gemma Winter just a few days before her wedding to Chesney Brown.

Billy urges Paul to apologise to Gemma following the seemingly-petty row, but Paul refuses to discuss it.

Taking a different tactic, Billy confides in Paul's friend Dee-Dee Bailey about how worried he is over Paul. He demands to know what's going on, which puts Dee-Dee in a difficult predicament.

Later, Dee-Dee becomes more stressed when Paul goes AWOL on the day of his court sentencing for the car theft.

Damon Hay finds Paul sitting alone in Victoria Garden. Already aware of Paul's terminal diagnosis, Damon urges him to do the right thing by getting down to court and embracing the life that he has left.

Dee-Dee is relieved when Paul arrives at the courthouse just in time for the proceedings to begin.

However, Billy also arrives at the courthouse. How will Billy feel about Paul being charged with a crime?

Plus, will he also find out about Paul's diagnosis, which Paul had previously planned to mention in court in a plea for a lenient sentence?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
