Coronation Street's Daniel to share fears for Bertie in Daisy stalker storyline

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Daniel Osbourne fears for the safety of his family next week as stalker Justin Rutherford continues to pay creepy visits to the cobbles.

Daniel's fiancée Daisy Midgeley has been repeatedly harassed by Justin over the past few weeks, but she has struggled to get the police to take her seriously when reporting his sinister behaviour.

This week's episodes see Daisy's ordeal escalate further when she argues with Justin in the street.

Justin places his hand on Daisy's arm and she responds by punching him. The show newcomer then proves just how manipulative he can be, as he reports Daisy to the police for assault and gets her arrested.

In the fallout from this incident, next week's episodes see Daisy try to concentrate on the future by making plans for her upcoming wedding.

A catering company sends Daisy some wedding cake samples for her approval.

Daisy, Daniel, Ken Barlow, Jenny Connor and Gemma Winter all gather for the cake tasting.

Sadly, the mood turns sour when Justin is the person who brings the samples. Justin recently got himself a job as a Weatherfield delivery driver, which Daisy guessed was another attempt to get close to her.

Daniel contacts Justin's delivery firm to report him for stalking Daisy.

The company refuses to take any action without proof, leaving Daniel frustrated.

Later, Daniel confides in Ken about how he fears Justin may not only pose a risk to Daisy – but to his young son Bertie too.

Ken promises that they'll all do everything they can to support Daisy at this difficult time.

Last week, Coronation Street's producer Iain MacLeod appeared on ITV1's Loose Women and spoke about the future of Daisy's story, which will continue running in the build-up to her wedding day in a few weeks' time.

MacLeod said: "It's a soap wedding – when do they ever go smoothly, let's put it that way.

"Obviously the story that's starting now, with Daisy experiencing this stalker, will continue all the way up to and including the wedding day. That will form part of the drama that will take place around the wedding.

"But I think Daniel and Daisy are for keeps. No spoilers, but even if the wedding doesn't go entirely according to plan, I do think long-term they're a couple that I'm really invested in."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
