Coronation Street's Helen Flanagan opens up on first Christmas without children

Former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan has opened up about spending Christmas without her children for the first time.

The star, who played Rosie Webster on the ITV soap, has three children with her ex-fiancée Scott Sinclair. This year, the children are staying at their father's over the festive season.

Flanagan explained to Closer Magazine: "My children are very close to Scott's mum — we get on very well — and they live in Bath, and I live in Bolton.

"My children really miss their daddy, and they're very close to their nanna, so they're going to spend Christmas with them. I won't have them for about four days."

Flanagan continued: "It will actually be the first Christmas that I don't have my children. I think it's good to have challenges, and with co-parenting, you've got to be fair. And it's not about you, it's about the children and what makes them happy."

She also shared that she will see her children over the New Year period and has an exciting trip planned: "I'm going to take all three of my kids, and my friends, to Bali."

Flanagan and Sinclar split up earlier this year after 13 years together.

"I just hope we can be good friends and co-parent. Children need happy parents, and they need a happy environment, so it's not always so straightforward," she said at the time.

"You don't spend all your twenties with someone, have three children and not have a good relationship and care about them and love them. When you have that with someone, no one — nothing — can take away what we had.

"I'll always love him, and he'll always love me. You just sometimes don't work any more."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
