Coronation Street's Mary Taylor to grow suspicious over new character

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street is introducing new character Isabella, and she's immediately going to catch the attention of one Cobbles resident, but not in a good way.

In scenes set to air next week, Brian Packham introduces his cousin Isabella to Glenda Shuttleworth and Bernie Winter, with the former trying to engage Isabella in conversation about Italy, but she's rudely ignored.

Mary Taylor in particular is taken aback, while Isabella tells Brian that they're going to party the Italian way.

Later in the week, Brian and George talk about their model-building competition, with Isabella noting that she finds George's attitude cocky. Deciding to take him down a peg, she decides to glue his model ship to the table.

As Brian tries lifting the ship later on, he accidentally breaks a big chunk off it due to the glue. George accuses Brian of trying to sabotage his model, and retaliates by locking Brian's own model in the hearse, meaning neither of them can take part in the competition.

In The Rovers, Mary notices that Isabella has sticky fingers and deduces that she was responsible for the glue. For Brian's sake, she decides not to say anything.

Isabella clearly isn't afraid of stirring the pot, however, as she tells Brian that she'd love for him to visit her in Naples but makes it clear that Mary can't come.

And just when it seems like she couldn't get any more suspicious, scenes later in the week see Isabella come into the café crying, revealing that her renovators have discovered some major issues with her flat and it's unsafe for her to go back home. What's really going on here?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
