Paul Foreman is set to confide in Todd Grimshaw over his assisted dying plan in new scenes on Coronation Street.

Recent scenes on the soap revisited the storyline following Paul's Motor Neurone Disease (MND) diagnosis earlier this year.

Paul went back on his request for an assisted death after Billy refused to aid him, and proposed to Billy. They later bumped into Paul's support group leader Shelly, as Billy privately told her that Paul had gone through "a phase" of wanting an assisted death.

Shelley later told Paul separately about her conversation with Billy, Paul dismissing it as "a moment of madness", though she then said: "Call me if there's anything you want to talk about. I mean it. Even if it is just 'a moment of madness'."

In new scenes set to air on the soap following his assurance to Billy, Paul admits to Todd that he hasn't really recanted and still planned to go through with assisted dying when the time is right.

However, he tells Todd to keep quiet about his plans – but will Todd be able to keep the truth away from ex Billy?

Speaking previously about Billy's reaction to Paul's plans, star Daniel Brocklebank said: "Billy is absolutely horrified. Because it not only goes against his own personal moral stance, but also his role as an archdeacon is very much about celebrating the life they've got left rather than terminating it.

"He wants them to have more time together, not less. So he's absolutely horrified that Paul is even considering it."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
