Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street star Rob Mallard has hinted that Daniel Osbourne could turn violent amid the Daisy Midgeley stalker storyline.

Viewers will know that Daisy has been targeted by stalker Justin Rutherford in recent weeks, with tensions boiling over when she hit him after he tried to grab her.

Scenes airing next week will see her wedding plans to Daniel put in trouble after the boutique refuses to lend her a dress after Justin makes assault allegations against her.

Daniel tries to downplay the situation, though later on Justin creepily enters her living room as she once again fears for her safety. Next week will also see a court hearing over the case, as Daisy and Justin go head-to-head.

Speaking about the storyline, Rob – who plays Daniel – has suggested that his character could turn violent over Justin, noting that he "is threatening the two people that he loves the most – Daisy and Bertie".

The star added that Justin has also underestimated Daniel, saying: "Justin hasn’t really had a reaction from Daniel other than Daniel taking him to one side to have a word with him.

"Justin thinks that he is not going to get any resistance from Daniel so he is going to keep pushing him. But Justin is about to find out that there is a line with Daniel and this week Justin will cross it."

However, Rob went on to hint that Justin's actions also have the potential to tear Daisy and Daniel apart, especially "if Daniel doesn’t respond in the way that Daisy needs him to".

"We have seen in the past that when she had the cancer scare, Daisy dumped Daniel because he didn’t react in the way she needed him to," he continued.

"Daniel is now very wary of how he responds to things, but I don’t even think Daisy knows what she wants from Daniel because she knows there is not much he can do about Justin.

"It’s a strange situation where Daniel is trying to do the right thing but he keeps doing and saying the wrong thing every time."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
