Coronation Street's Rowan Cunliffe to blackmail Nick in cult storyline

Coronation Street's Rowan Cunliffe is set to blackmail Nick Tilsley as part of the ongoing cult storyline.
Viewers will know that Leanne Battersby has been increasingly drawn into the cult The Institute, which is led by charismatic leader Rowan, with Nick and Toyah growing concerned about her.
In new scenes set to air next week, Leanne tries to put pressure on Amy to join The Institute at the Bistro. Nick then leaves Leanne in charge at the Bistro as he takes Toyah for her latest hospital appointment.

Later on in the week, Leanne continues her attempts to get Amy to join the group – but will she succeed in convincing her?
Rowan then tempts Leanne after suggesting she invest £40k in the business, but will Nick agree to her new business opportunity?
Meanwhile, Toyah searches online for dirt on Rowan, while the cult leader tries to blackmail Nick into investing in the new resource centre by threatening to reveal his secret affair with Toyah.

Last month, Rowan actor Emrhys Cooper warned that his sinister character could target more characters after brainwashing Leanne.
"I think that he really wants to open another resource centre, so he’s on a mission to raise the investment needed, however he can do that," he said.
"And he wants to ‘help’ more people, so there might be some more characters he’s bringing into the organisation…."
Emrhys also revealed his own personal history in preparing for his role, explaining: "My mum and dad were in a cult for two years about 22 years ago, and I made a movie about a sham guru and a wellness retreat [The Shuroo Process] not that different from Rowan’s."
