Coronation Street's Shayne Ward ‘unrecognisable’ following hair transformation

Former Coronation Street star Shayne Ward has left fans stunned after appearing with a new hairstyle.

The actor and singer famously appeared on the soap as Aidan Connor between 2015 and 2018, and was known for sporting a shaved hair look.

However, while stopping by The One Show last week alongside fellow Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley (who played Aidan love interest Eva Price) ahead of their Channel 5 series The Good Ship Murder, fans found Ward 'unrecognisable' with a longer hair look.

"I was bit bewildered as I knew it was Shayne but he looked so different.... Then they showed the video of him and I realised it was the hair. He looks so dishy with his longer [hair]," one wrote on Instagram.

"I literally had to Google who this guy was!!! Looks so so different to what I remember," another added, while a third admitted: "Took far too long for me to recognise him".

During the chat, Catherine explained that she got former X Factor star Shayne to sing at her wedding to Tom Pitfield in 2016, recalling the emotional moment that made everyone cry.

"I had a song, 'Butterfly Kisses', that was mine and my dad's song," she began. "And I really wanted somebody special to perform it at my wedding. And I asked Shayne, and he said yes.

"And there wasn't a dry eye in the house. Even [co-star] Jack P Shepherd, who has a heart like a swinging brick – and he won't mind me saying that – was in bits," Catherine added.

"It was just… I've heard [Shayne] sing a million times, you still make me cry."

Shayne and Catherine's new series The Good Ship Murder sees the pair play a former detective and a First Officer on a cruise ship who team up as one of the passengers on board is murdered.

The Good Ship Murder airs on Channel 5. Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
