Coronation Street's Simon Gregson responds to rumours he's had a hair transplant

Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has responded to rumours that he's had a hair transplant.

The actor, who plays Steve McDonald on the ITV soap, got viewers talking after he was seen sporting a cap throughout Monday night's (April 24) episode of the show.

However, Simon has shut down the speculation that he was wearing a hat to cover a transplant, sharing a picture of himself on Instagram wearing a cap and hoodie.

"To those who think I’ve had a hair transplant coz I’m in a hat, I’m also in a hoodie with no boob job. People are strange," he wrote.

However, fellow Corrie star Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs), who has been open about his own hair transplants in the past, took the opportunity to poke fun in the comments.

"What’s wrong with a hair transplant ?? Asking for a friend," he joked, while Ryan Thomas (who played Jason Grimshaw) shared a cry laughing emoji.

Elsewhere, last month Simon confirmed he would be enlisting paranormal experts for Discovery+ series Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted after sharing his belief that his family is being spooked by a poltergeist.

"My wife Emma, my eldest son Alfie, and I have seen a woman who's dressed in white and crosses the landing by the stairs," he told TV Times.

"One time, about 1.30am, I saw her go across. First I thought it was Emma coming in after a night out with her friends. When I rang to ask if it was her, she replied, 'No, you're going to tell me you've seen a woman crossing the landing, aren't you? I've seen her, too!'"

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
