Coronation Street's Stephen Reid panics after risky hotel room break-in

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street killer Stephen Reid faces another tense moment tonight (August 14) as he fears being caught red-handed with an incriminating clue.

Stephen is forced to make another risky move as he worries about the police finding out about his tie pin being left at the scene of Rufus' murder.

Rufus' drowning is currently being treated as a tragic accident, but his widow Lou has alerted the authorities to an unexplained tie pin that was found near his body.

Worried that the tie pin could be correctly traced back to him, Stephen knows that he needs to retrieve it from Lou's possession before it's handed over to the police.

In Monday's episode, Lou arrives at Underworld for a meeting with Stephen and Carla Barlow.

Lou reports that the police have finally agreed to investigate the mysteries of Rufus' missing watch and the tie pin.

While Lou is distracted chatting to Carla, Stephen steals her hotel key from her bag.

The schemer then lets himself into Lou's hotel room and frantically searches through her things. He's relieved to find the tie pin and hopes that his troubles are finally over.

However, just as Stephen makes to leave, he hears someone outside who's about to barge in. Will he finally be caught up to no good?

Todd Boyce, who plays Stephen, recently shared a surprising theory over why his character could be killed off at the end of his storyline.

Speaking to Inside Soap, he revealed: "I share a dressing room with Dan Brocklebank [who plays Billy Mayhew], who is just so much fun and so wonderful. [He] tells me that everyone who's sat in my chair, their character has died.

"So it's a bit of a haunted chair. Dan has been in the show for 10 years, so that's a bit scary!"
