Coronation Street's Stephen Reid plots Elaine Jones' death in eery scenes

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Stephen Reid has continued to plot Elaine Jones's death in eery scenes in Coronation Street.

The serial killer started the process of taking out a life insurance policy on his soon-to-be wife when he discovered that she has a heart condition that also killed her late mother.

In Wednesday's (May 3) episode, Stephen once again pulled one over on Elaine when he asked for her passport in order to re-book flights to Vegas for an impromptu wedding.

Once he had the documents, he was able to enter the relevant personal information to officially take out the insurance policy.

However, his plans to leave Weatherfield with Elaine were quickly dashed when she decided she'd rather have a ceremony on the cobbles so that her friends could attend.

Elaine then called all of her friends and loved ones to the Rovers to announce that she'd changed her mind about having a quickie wedding in the US.

Meanwhile, Stephen's attention was drawn elsewhere when he noticed his business contact Owen was flirting away with Jenny Connor behind the bar.

This innocent flirting could prove to be a fatal mistake, since Stephen has always harboured some secret romantic feelings for Jenny.

Viewers will remember that Stephen's first victim was Jenny's boyfriend Leo, and then he killed Leo's father Teddy to prevent the truth from coming out.

His most recent victim has been business rival Rufus, so Owen has no idea how much danger he is in after angering the serial killer. Will he survive slighting Stephen?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
