Coronation Street's Todd Boyce shares goodbye message

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Todd Boyce has shared a goodbye message after his character Stephen Reid's final episode.

Friday's (October 13) drama-filled episode saw an end to Stephen's long-running serial killer storyline after he was mowed down on the famous cobbles by Peter Barlow's car. Boyce commemorated his final turn by appearing at a special live fan screening of the episode, hosted by ITV's Sharon Marshall on Friday night.

In a heartfelt video posted on X, formerly Twitter, Boyce reflected on his time in Weatherfield. He first appeared on Corrie 27 years ago before reprising his role 10 years later and again last year.

"It's really very hard to believe that it's over," Boyce began. "It was a big, big hit in Australia as I was growing up. And so, in a sense, I just feel like I climbed into my TV set and inhabited Weatherfield, and it's been magical for me."

He also thanked the fans: "Usually, you thank the fans for loving you. I thank the fans on this visit for hating me with such visceral, sort of, feelings. I'm glad you've maybe come around to me, hopefully. But now that I'm gone, well, maybe you could like me a little bit."

"Sorry for the murders," the actor joked. "I didn't write it."

He concluded by thanking the team at Coronation Street for being the "most glorious people to work with".

"I get emotional about it because everyone just reaches for excellence every day and they have a laugh and they support people like me who come and go," Boyce added before blowing a kiss to the camera and saying: "I love you, Coronation Street. I love you."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
