Corrie confirms full details of Ken's emotional story

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has confirmed the full details of Ken Barlow's new story, as the cobbles veteran experiences a scary fall.

In scenes that will air on Monday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 12, Ken attends Stu Carpenter's birthday drinks, but the happy occasion soon becomes a struggle for Ken.

Bobby Crawford approaches Ken at the drinks and apologises for inadvertently getting his son Daniel Osbourne into trouble with the police over Lauren Bolton's disappearance. While they chat, Bobby notices that Ken seems unsteady on his feet. With Ken not feeling well, he heads home.

Later on, a concerned Bobby knocks on Ken's door to check on him. When he gets no reply, he peers through the letterbox and is horrified to see Ken lying at the bottom of the stairs.

Bobby quickly calls an ambulance and Ken receives medical attention.

Later in the week, Daniel and Steve McDonald pay Ken a visit in hospital, and Ken is dismayed to find out that he'll be needing round the clock care while he recovers from his fall.

Steve assures Ken that the Barlow family will pull together and make sure that he receives the care he needs to keep him safe in his own home. Ken forces a smile - how will he cope with needing constant care from his loved ones?

It was previously reported that Ken will be left feeling demoralised as he struggles to recover, with the plot serving to highlight the situation that many families are placed in when elderly members need to receive care from their relatives.

One member of the Barlow family who will no longer be around to support Ken is his grandson Simon, who left Weatherfield behind this week to join his dad, Peter, working on a boat.

Actor Alex Bain, who has played Simon for 16 years, shared a goodbye message on social media, in which he said that he has had "a fantastic experience" and called his time on the soap "an honour".

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
