Corrie's Ellie Leach pays emotional tribute to co-star after exit

Coronation Street's Ellie Leach has shared a sweet message to co-star and "best mate" Colson Smith following her exit from the soap.

The actress first joined the ITV series when she was 9 years old in the role of Faye Windass. Last night (May 24), Faye left the cobbles at the end of a dramatic love triangle that saw her break up with fiancé Craig Tinker, played by Smith.

After her final scenes aired, Leach took to Instagram to share several cute snaps of her and Smith throughout their years on Corrie.

"Starting this job at 9 years old, I didn't know what to expect. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would meet someone who would become one of the most special people in my life," Leach wrote in the caption.

"You really are one in a million, I've never met anyone quite like you and I'm so blessed to call you my best mate," she continued, adding: "Just don't go getting another fiancé too quickly okay!"

Leach then took inspiration from Faye's last words to Craig to pen a final, heartwarming message to Smith.

"Thank you for everything, Colson Smith. Everything we've been through, everything we've done together, I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for you," she wrote.

"I love you and I always will."

In recent scenes of Corrie, Faye broke up with Craig to get her happy ending with her ex Jackson Hodge and their daughter Miley.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
