Corrie's Steve McDonald left shocked by Tracy and Tommy

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Steve McDonald will face a shock when he returns home from France next week, as he discovers his wife Tracy with Tommy Orpington.

Since former Weatherfield County footballer Tommy was hired by Tracy to do some decorating at No.1, the pair have discovered that there is unexpected romantic tension between them.

With the pair set to give into temptation later this week, Steve will be none the wiser to their betrayal as he spends time with daughter Emma Brooker in France.

In scenes that will air on Monday, February 5, Tracy and Tommy will be continuing to keep their passion under wraps.

As Sally and Tim Metcalfe vie for Tommy's attention, Tracy grabs her moment with the decorator, telling him to call into the flower shop with his invoice. With Steve due back tomorrow, she suggests that it could be their last chance to spend time together.

Unbeknown to the couple, Steve soon arrives home early. As he prepares a French buffet, he tells Ken and Amy Barlow that he has plans to impress Tracy and put the zing back into their marriage.

However, over in the flower shop, Tracy is turning the sign to 'closed' as she pulls Tommy in for a kiss.

Heading over to the shop and finding it closed, Steve shouts that he knows Tracy is in there.

As Tracy gingerly opens the door, with Tommy behind her, Steve is gobsmacked. Has he caught the pair out over their secret affair, or will they be able to come up with another explanation for why they're alone together in the locked shop?

Actress Kate Ford, who plays Tracy, has spoken out about her character's shock decision to cheat on Steve, saying that Tracy is realising "how fed up she is with her life".

"She's being ruthless and brutal. Tommy is good looking," she said. "He's got a bit of glamour as an ex-footballer and she fancies him. She's like 'God, yeah, I'm really bored, this is fun!'"

Matt Milburn, who plays Tommy, has also spoken about the storyline, saying that Tommy "does feel guilty" when it comes to betraying Steve.

"He likes Steve and he's definitely not out to hurt anyone, but at the same time, the guilt isn't driving him under the ground either," he said. "He's not the one that's married so I suppose he doesn't carry the majority of the guilt."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
