Cosplayers meet cosplay celebrities on a cruise

Two cosplayers from different countries had their dreams come true, when they won a cosplay competition to be migme’s cosplay ambassadors at Cosfest SEA: The Rising Tide and got the chance to meet their favorite cosplay celebrities on a cruise.

Melisa Natashia (@risacrimson) join the competition because she wanted to try something new and meet new friends, while Justine was inspired to join the competition after she heard that migme sent fellow Fillipino cosplayer Dinny (@dingrayson) as a cosplay ambassador to Cosfest Christmas back in 2014.

Melisa has been cosplaying for seven years, and Justine for five. So when they heard the announcement, it was an emotional joyride from shock to excitement, as it has always been their dream to meet celebrity cosplayers like Neneko and Xiao Xiao Bai.

They won an all-access pass to Cosfest SEA: The Rising Tide, organized by the Singapore Cosplay Club, that was held on a Royal Caribbean ship. This is also the first time that a cosplay event is held on a cruise.

Both revealed that this was their very first time onboard a cruise.

Over 100 cosplayers and fans gathered on the cruise where the Asia Cosplay Meet 2016 was also held. The cosplay meet saw eight teams from China, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand and the Philippines competing for the top honor of being the top cosplay team in Asia.

After two days of intense competition, Team Thailand emerged as the winner with their portrayal of the recent online manga hit, One Punch Man.

The LED light on their costume did not work at first. One of them from the Singapore team then helped the Thailand team out and aided them to win. Singapore came in second.

Both Melisa and Justine are huge fans of One Punch Man. They were really impressed with how the Thailand team were able to weave in their story from the duel competition and continued it for the trio competition. In their opinion, they felt that it was their creativity on the continuation of the story that allowed them to emerge as the winner for the competition.

Besides watching every single cosplay performances in the cruise, they also ran around to meet their favorite cosplay celebrities.

What made this event different from the rest was the fact that Cosfest SEA: The Rising Tide was a private event, a privilege that Melisa and Justine earned for winning the migCosplay competition. This allowed them the opportunities to interact and mingle with all of the other cosplayers, forging new friendships that would not have been possible if it was not a private event.

Through migme, both Melisa and Justine are now good friends that share a memorable cosplay experience together. An experience they believe they would never forget in this lifetime.
