Couple to be charged with murder of woman's 11-year-old daughter
SINGAPORE — A couple will be charged on Thursday (12 November) with the suspected murder of the woman’s 11-year-old daughter.
Both man and woman are 26 years old, and the woman is the biological mother of the girl, while the man is the stepfather, the Singapore Police Force said in a press release on Wednesday.
The police were alerted to the unnatural death of the girl on Tuesday at about 1.20pm. The girl was conveyed unconscious to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital by ambulance at about 11am on Tuesday and was pronounced dead at 12.40pm.
Police arrested the couple believed to be involved in the death. Both are expected to be charged for the offence of murder with common intention.
A person who is convicted of murder faces the death penalty.
