COVID-19: Singapore woman, 88, from TTSH cluster dies
SINGAPORE – An elderly Singaporean woman who was part of the Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) cluster, has died due to complications from COVID-19 infection.
In a press release, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that the 88-year-old woman died on Saturday (1 May). She had a history of cancer, hypertension, congestive cardiac failure, stroke and hyperlipidaemia, the ministry said.
She had been warded in TTSH Ward 9D from 14 April, and was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 28 April.
In a statement posted on Facebook, TTSH expressed its deepest condolence to the woman's family. "She was isolated as part of our COVID-19 inpatient screening on 28 April and had tested positive. In her last moments, special arrangements were made for her family to video conference her and visit her from outside her isolation room."
As of Saturday, three more cases were linked to the cluster, where a 46-year-old female nurse deployed at ward 9D was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 27 April. In total, there are 16 cases linked to this cluster.
The MOH confirmed 34 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore on the same day, taking the country's total case count to 61,179.
