Crown Prince Christian of Denmark Celebrates His High School Graduation

The past year has been an eventful one for Prince Christian of Denmark. Back in October, the Danish royal marked his 18th birthday, then in January he not only took up the title of Crown Prince when his father, King Frederik, took the throne, but just weeks thereafter he served as regent for the first time when his father was traveling. This the young prince marked off another milestone, as he celebrated his secondary education graduation surrounded by family.

Christian, who attended Ordrup Gymnasium, was all smiles after the ceremony, wearing a classic Danish graduation hat, which is traditionally placed on the student's head by family members after their final exams. Naturally, both King Frederik and Christian's mother, Queen Mary, were in attendance for the big event, as were the prince's three siblings—Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent, and Princess Josephine.

The family looked summery, in laid-back outfits tied together by the color white. Ever stylish, Queen Mary donned a white button down with a floral printed Zimmermann skirt and Gianvito Rossi heels, while her daughter opted for flowy blouses with shorts or a denim skirt. Christian and Vincent both wore white trousers with blue-toned button down shirts, while the king opted for a slightly dressier accent, pairing his khakis and Oxford with a navy blazer.

While she didn't pose for public photos with the rest of the family, Queen Margrethe, who abdicated earlier this year, was also there to congratulate her grandson.

"Today it was His Royal Highness the Crown Prince's turn to experience the very special feeling of freedom that the student cap gives," read the caption of a post the royal family shared to their official Instagram, "But it's not only students who are looking forward to it. The Danish tradition also embraces family and friends, which could also be seen at Ordrup Gymnasium today."

While no official announcements have been made, it's widely anticipated that Christian will continue his studies at university and, like his father, complete military training.
