Crystal Palace confident over Eberechi Eze contract boost to thwart Man City

Crystal Palace are confident that Eberechi Eze will sign a new long-term contract amid ongoing transfer interest from Manchester City.

City failed with a £60million summer bid for Eze and Palace want to tie down the winger with a fresh deal worth in excess of £100,000 a week.

Negotiations over Eze, whose current contract expires in 2025, are at an advanced stage. The final sticking point is the inclusion, and value, of a release clause in the deal.

Pep Guardiola is an admirer of Eze and, while City ultimately opted to sign Matheus Nunes from Wolves over the summer, they could yet revisit a move for the England star.

Eze has become a regular in the Three Lions squad and is targeting a place at Euro 2024 under Gareth Southgate next summer.

He is closing in on a return to action after four weeks out with a hamstring injury and could even be on the bench for the game against Tottenham on Friday.

Palace are keen to tie down their biggest assets after Michael Olise signed a new four-year contract earlier this year amid strong interest from Chelsea. His deal included a release clause.

The Eagles also want to begin talks to keep captain Marc Guehi, who is attracting interest from Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Liverpool.
