Cypress Hill to Perform with the London Symphony Orchestra as “The Simpsons” Prediction Comes True 28 Years Later

The hip-hop group accidentally ordered the orchestra while under the influence during a cameo appearance in a 1996 episode of the hit animated show

Another Simpsons joke is coming true — this time involving hip-hop group Cypress Hill.

On Wednesday, July 10, the band is set to take the stage with the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) at the Royal Albert Hall.

The performance comes 28 years after The Simpsons joked about Cypress Hill accidentally ordering the LSO "possibly while high" during the 1996 "Homerpalooza" episode. They ended up joining forces to perform the band's 1993 hit, "Insane in the Brain."

Per the Royal Albert Hall's website, the group — who have sold over 20 million albums worldwide — is set to perform "a special rendition" of their 1993 album, Black Sunday, "as well as other hits from their extensive back-catalog" with the orchestra.

In addition to "Insane in the Brain," the setlist will also include songs like 1993's "I Wanna Get High."

While speaking to the BBC during rehearsals for the one-night-only performance, B-Real (né Louis Mario Freese), said, "It's been something that we've talked about for many years since The Simpsons episode first aired."

"So it's very special for us. And it's coming off the heels of our 30th anniversary for our Black Sunday album," he added.

The group admitted this was "one of those checklist moments" in their decades-long career.

In The Simpsons episode, English-American guitarist, singer and songwriter Peter Frampton was the one attempting to book the orchestra. And in real life, Cypress Hill band has been trying to get him to attend the highly anticipated show.

"Yes, actually, we've been trying to invite him," B-Real, 54, told the BBC.

"We've never met him before, but we thought it would be a kick to invite the legendary Peter Frampton," he said, with the group adding that they "salute The Simpsons because if they had not written that episode, we probably wouldn't be doing this."

B-Real, along with his fellow Cypress Hill members Sen Dog and DJ Lord, also told Sky News this would be a historic and "probably one of the biggest moments" ever for the group.

"We've done some pretty damn big gigs, but this is with some of the best musicians in the world," B-Real said, adding, "So, yeah, we're excited."

"We've played a lot of historical venues throughout our 32 years of making music... we're not only playing with the LSO, but we're playing in their house — the most prestigious place to play," he continued.
