Veteran's heartfelt D-Day meeting with President Zelenskyy captured in touching video

Veteran tried to kiss the hand of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the celebrations in France on June 6, marking the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, a World War II,  French TV channel LCI reported. 

As seen in the video, the veteran was introduced to various world leaders. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was the first to greet him. When Ukrainian President approached, the veteran tried to kiss Zelenskyy's hand, but Zelenskyy stopped him, and they embraced warmly. 

The veteran called Zelenskyy the "savior of the people," to which Zelenskyy replied that the veteran and his comrades had saved Europe. The elderly man said he was praying for Ukrainians, and they took a photo together with the president.

First Lady Olena Zelenska then greeted the veteran, who also warmly welcomed her.

On June 6, numerous world leaders participated in celebrations in France to mark the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, a key Allied operation in World War II. Attendees included King Charles III of Great Britain, US President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
