Dakota Johnson Signs With CAA

EXCLUSIVE: Dakota Johnson has signed with CAA. The agency will rep her in all areas, including her TeaTime Pictures production company.

Johnson, who had been repped by WME, stars alongside Sean Penn in Daddio, which she produced through TeaTime. Christy Hall wrote and directed the drama, which premiered at Telluride and Toronto. Sony Pictures Classics acquired it, and will release in 2024. Johnson drew raves for Daddio, which is just her and Penn in a yellow cab from JFK to Manhattan, two strangers who briefly get to know each other and the problems each faces. The dialogue is razor sharp and Penn turns in one of his best performances in years. Johnson is right there with him the whole way.

Johnson next will be seen playing the title character in Madame Web, based on the Marvel superhero character for Sony. Directed by S.J. Clarkson, the film is slated for a big theatrical release in February. Coming from her turns in the Fifty Shades franchise and indies like Cha Cha Real Smooth and The Peanut Butter Falcon, Johnson has become one of the more compelling and versatile actresses on the scene.

Johnson and her TeaTime Pictures producing partner Ro Donnelly were executive producers of The Disappearance of Shere Hite, which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. She voices the title character in the documentary, which was released by IFC and is currently in theaters.

Johnson continues to be represented at Untitled Entertainment, PJ Shapiro at Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole, and Slate PR’s Robin Baum.
