Dancing on Ice has been keeping Brits entertained since becoming a TV staple in 2006.

The 2023 series saw the coveted trophy lifted by British gymnast and Olympian Nile Wilson and his dance partner, Olivia Sophie Smart.

Next year will see the show return to screens with its 16th series and fans have already begun their countdown.

And, as the line-up is slowly revealed, fans have been elated to learn that pop star Hannah Spearritt is among those who are set to compete.

But many are wondering who else will be on the series this season and who will play host given the recent drama surrounding Philip Schofield. Here is a comprehensive look at what viewers can expect from Dancing on Ice 2024.

When is Dancing on Ice 2024?

Dancing on Ice 2024 will hit screens early next year. While it is scheduled to start in January, an exact date hasn’t been announced just yet.

A spokesperson for the ice skating show said “further announcements” will be made “in due course”.

In 2023, the show kicked off on January 15 and, in 2022, the start date was January 16, so it’s safe to assume that the series will begin mid-January.

Who is in the line-up?

ITV hasn’t started to formally reveal the line-up just yet, but there are some names that have been making headlines as reported competitors.

Former S Club 7 member Hannah Spearritt, for instance, has been reported to have signed up for the new series of Dancing On Ice after having quit the S Club reunion show earlier this year.

Sources have said that the 42-year-old is very much looking forward to giving the show a go.

If the rumours are, indeed, correct, she would be the second S Club star to appear on the show. Her former bandmate Rachel Stevens competed in the series in 2022.

Another rumoured Dancing on Ice contestant is Little Mix alumna Jesy Nelson. A source has told The Sun: “ITV has approached Jesy to see if she would be interested.

“They have made it clear she is firmly at the top of their wish list and they’d do anything to make it happen. She is an incredibly talented performer and would have a great presence on the ice.”

Other whispers have suggested that This Morning’s Sharon Marshall, Eastenders’ actress Shona McGarty, and Olympian Louis Smith have been invited to join the show.

However, fans will probably have to wait until October to find out which of the rumours is true, as ITV usually waits until mid-autumn to announce the line-up.

Who is hosting Dancing on Ice 2024?

Given the recent events surrounding Philip Schofield, which saw him resign from his presenting roles including hosting This Morning, he will definitely not be returning to host the show this year.

According to Sky News, Stephen Mulhern, who made a name for himself as the host of Catchphrase and Britain’s Got More Talent, has been asked to replace Schofield. This report hasn’t been confirmed or denied by ITV thus far.

Holly Willoughby, however, is widely expected to return as co-host.

Some rumours have suggested that Willoughby will be replaced, too, and that ITV will opt to bring in an entirely new duo to front the show. The rumoured pairs have been Marvin and Rochelle Humes, and Christina Lampard and Joel Dommett.‌
