Dancing On Ice has confirmed Stephen Lustig-Webb's replacement following the former Gogglebox star's withdrawal from the series.

Earlier this month, the reality star was withdrawn from the upcoming series after sustaining an ankle injury. And now, it's been confirmed that Olympic ski jumper Eddie Edwards will be taking his place in the competition.

Speaking about his decision to join the series, Edwards said: "It's bittersweet as whilst I'm delighted to be taking part in the new series I'm gutted for Stephen and wish him a speedy recovery.

"Dancing on Ice is a show I've always wanted to do. It's a challenge I think I'm going to relish."

Nicknamed Eddie the Eagle, Edwards is best known for being the first person to represent Great Britain in ski jumping at the 1988 Winter Olympics. He finished last in the category.

He was later played by Taron Egerton in a 2016 biopic about his appearance at the Olympics, titled Eddie the Eagle, and has appeared on TV shows such as The Jump and The Masked Dancer.

Edwards joins Olympic champion Greg Rutherford, former Love Island star Amber Davies, EastEnders star Ricky Norwood, Coronation Street's Ryan Thomas, Brookside actress Claire Sweeney and champion boxer Ricky Hatton in the competition.

Made in Chelsea's Miles Nazaire, Emmerdale's Roxy Shahidi, radio presenter Adele Roberts and Taskmaster champion Lou Sanders and S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt are also competing.

Confirming Lustig-Webb's early exit from the show, a spokesperson for Dancing on Ice told Digital Spy he'd suffered a break to his left ankle while training and had been advised to withdraw by medical professionals.

"Stephen Lustig-Webb has had to withdraw from the show due to an injury he sustained to his ankle during training," a statement read.

"He is still very much a part of the Dancing On Ice family, we will be helping to support Stephen and we wish him well with his recovery."

Dancing on Ice airs on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
