Dancing on Ice star Matt Evers has shared a “sad goodbye” after losing his job of 10 years on shopping channel Ideal World.

The figure skater, who has appeared on the ITV reality show since 2006, worked with the Peterborough-based company for the last decade, but they announced today that they had fallen into administration.

Evers reacted to the news via his social media channels, sharing a montage of his favourite clips with the company alongside a heartfelt message.

“A very sad goodbye… to all my producers, directors, fellow presenters, guests, models, audio, stage hands, stage managers, buyers and production staff thank you for almost 10 years of pure joy,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I cannot thank you all enough for making my experience with @idealworld.tv nothing but bliss. We cannot forget our viewers and loyal customers without you we were nothing. To those who hired me 10 years ago as a guest to this past year and believing in me to present my own shows I could not have done it without each and everyone of you.

“3 hours of live, non scripted, no ad break off the cuff television is definitely exciting. Things can be scary when something ends but rest assured when one door closes another one opens. A very sad end to a beautiful era of television,” he concluded.

Evers is due to return for the 16th series of the ITV show, which recently responded to accusations of a “toxic workplace” from Jason Gardiner. The former judge departed the show in 2019 following a public feud with then-contestant Gemma Collins, and alleged that he had been told not to pursue legal action.

“There was no consideration for my mental health, my well-being, what I was going through,” he said. “I believe this toxic culture will destroy itself. This is opening Pandora's box, and rightly so.” ITV responded in a statement, saying it was not their “recollection of events.”

Dancing on Ice airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
