Dancing on Ice star Ryan Thomas has admitted struggling with the pressure of the show after a challenging week on the ice.

The former Coronation Street actor skated a Wonka themed routine for Movie Week on Sunday (January 28) alongside his professional partner Amani Fancy.

After suffering a few stumbles in his performance, Thomas has now reflected on why "something wasn’t right".

Taking to Instagram Thomas shared a photo of himself in costume at the Dancing on Ice studio alongside his two children, Scarlett and Roman.

Alongside the heart-warming family photo, he wrote an emotional statement about his struggles on the show.

"I knew something wasn’t right with me yesterday, I’ve put far too much pressure on myself to be the best I can, when really I should just be out there enjoying myself," the Corrie star explained. "Opening the show, seeing my family in the audience for the first time in a week, made my eyes water and my knees go to jelly! It’s a lot!"

However, Thomas insisted that despite not performing as well as he’d hoped he’s now ready to move forward with the next challenge.

"Today's a new day, new routine, it’s time to put it all behind me move on… easier said than done but I’m really going to try," he wrote. "Not forgetting a massive congratulations to all my fellow celebs and pros, last night you truly blew me away with your performances.

"It’s very cliche but honestly they are the nicest bunch of people and so supportive!

"And lastly thank you to everyone that votes, sends messages. I read and think how lucky I am to be liked by people I’ve never even met before. There’s a lot to be said for just people being kind, it really makes a difference. Love you all so much."

Sunday night saw S-Club star Hannah Spearritt exit the competition, falling victim to a format twist as the skate-off was scrapped in favour of an immediate elimination.

Dancing on Ice airs on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
